Our Organisation

Marine Wildlife Australia is committed to the conservation of charismatic marine wildlife and the precious ecosystems they inhabit.  We achieve this through four key areas:

  1. Campaigning
  2. Community education and empowerment that leads to action
  3. Research and monitoring programs
  4. Advocacy

WHY DO WE EXIST

There is an urgent need to protect charismatic marine wildlife from:
•Habitat destruction
•Pollution
•Entanglement and bycatch
•Climate Change

We protect what we love and we can only protect it if we know about it.  It is our vision that by working closely with communities, government and industry that we can raise awareness and take action to create a genuinely sustainable future for our charismatic marine wildlife.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER OF MARINE WILDLIFE AUSTRALIA

For me, the sea is like oxygen- I cannot live without it.  I refuse to imagine a world where the dolphins, turtles, dugongs, sharks and rays are so rare that I could not encounter them.  I refuse to accept a world where the sea is so polluted that I cannot swim in it.  I refuse to live in a world where I am powerless to take action to protect the things that are truly worth fighting for.

I believe that if we unite as one voice, we can make a meaningful difference.  I am calling on every person to take action to help save our charismatic marine wildlife.  They don’t have a voice, so we must speak for them through our words and our actions.  You can become part of this important journey in many ways.
